If you're a B2B salesperson making less than 200 grand a year, then I want to share with you a quote by Warren Buffett that changed everything for me as a salesperson. It actually took me from being in a dead-end sales gig, making 50 grand a year, and ultimately not being fulfilled selling what I was selling, to making more than a neurosurgeon in 12 months' time. And the quote is, it's not how hard that you row, it's far more important what boat that you're in. And what Warren means by this quote is that your industry and what you're selling is far more important than your actual skill sets as a salesperson. When I heard this, I realized for the first time I was in the wrong industry selling the wrong thing. And immediately I went on a search. And what I found was a $3.2 billion industry that I could sell in that was in dire need of salespeople. And it was really only two to three years old. And it wasn't medical sales, insurance, or real estate, or network marketing, or anything scammy like that. It wasn't telemarketing or medical sales, wasn't solar, or door-to-door. And in fact, this industry was all inbound leads, so everything was warm and booked onto my calendar. It was also a very short sales cycle, so I closed leads that week and get paid at the end of the week. It was remote, it was flexible. One of the first months I did it, I actually traveled in London and closed deals while I was in London. And most importantly, it was the first thing I ever sold where I felt like I was in 100% integrity. What I mean by that is I would sell people and get messages afterwards of people thanking me for selling them, or thanking me for holding them accountable and actually buying and aligning their actions with their words. And so once I was within integrity and in the right industry, the income truly followed.
