Can I show you some really, really disturbing math? $40,000. That's the average that an American makes today, 40,000 bucks. And here's the part that makes me really uncomfortable, is when you break that down into monthly, that is around $3,000. Do you know how far $3,000 gets you today, in today's world? Well, let's do the math. $3,000, well, they're gonna take half of it right away, because the IRS wants that. So now you're down to 1,500 bucks of actually cash deposited into your account. Now, that 1,500 bucks has to pay your house, which is gonna cost you a G. It's gotta pay your car insurance, which is gonna cost you another 300 bucks. Not to mention your health insurance, which is gonna cost you hundreds of bucks. Not to mention food, daycare, I mean, the list goes on. And if somehow, you're extremely thrifty, and you're extremely frugal, and you never leave your house, or do anything fun at all, you might, if you stop drinking coffee, and doing all the things you enjoy, you might be able to save 200 bucks a month. 200 bucks a month, times 12, equals 2,400 bucks a year. And then you're supposed to take that 2,400 bucks, and invest it in compounding interest, and the people you don't trust, et cetera. You know what the truth about that 2,400 bucks? It's gone before you saved it. Because in real life, there's emergencies. Your refrigerator breaks. Your car breaks, and you have to repair it. There's an emergency with a child or a family member, and they need to borrow money, et cetera. So all that money you save, you end up spending again, and every single year, you end up back at zero. Again, and again, and again, working the same career, the same job, the same business, pretending you're progressing year after year, but you're really just repeating the same year again, and again, and again, and again, and again. Has your bank account actually gotten bigger? Well see, here's the problem, and this is the part that disturbs me, and makes me uncomfortable. You can't save yourself into wealth. You can't save yourself out of a recession or a bad turn. Saving will not get you there. It's not enough. You have to play offense. You have to increase your earning power.
